Getting the Most Out of Your Holiday Shopping

It seems that folks shop earlier and earlier for the holidays each year.  What used to be a Black Friday frenzy has now turned into the entire month of November with stores having Pre-Black Friday sales, leaks and all sorts of other promotions.  I love getting my shopping done early because the thought of fighting a crowd no longer appeals to me. However, if saving a few bucks is on your list, I’ve put together a few tips for scoring some of the hottest items under the tree this year.

Rakuten

I highly suggest using Rakuten for all your online shopping. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s not a scam and it pays...literally!  It’s also an easy way to see what coupon codes are available for the store you’re shopping and it’ll even compare prices for you. Here’s a quick tutorial of how it works.  If you want to sign up, you can do it HERE.

Shop Local

As I’ve said in the past, there are some things you’ll never be able to get online and good customer service is one of them.  I would encourage you to shop local this holiday season for not only that but most stores offer FREE gift wrapping with purchase. I mean, what can be better than walking out with your packages ready to put under your tree!  If you’re in Sampson County, I recommend Rebecca’s of Clinton, Matthews Gifts, Annadale’s, High Cotton and Sessoms Jewelry just to name a few who offer service with a smile and gift wrapping. And don’t forget about Small Business Saturday this year on November 30 where many of your local shops will be offering promotions.

Direct Sales Vendors

Last week I reposted a blog I wrote last year about this topic.  Many of us also offer the free gift wrapping option as well as personalized service for those hard to buy for names on your list.  I personally love knowing that I help to put a smile on someone’s face when they open their gift.

Map It Out

A lot of chain stores already have their Black Friday sales flyers posted.  I highly recommend making a plan even if you’ll be doing your shopping online from your couch.  Most stores start their online deals earlier than their in-store promotions also. One of my favorite new features is Target Circle.  You get cashback to use on future purchases and they’re offering their Circle members access to the Black Friday Sale starting at 7 pm EST on Wednesday, November 27!  And of course, it’s FREE so sign up.

So whether you decide to face the crowds or shop in your jammies, I hope that you find exactly what you’re looking for this year.  Above all, it’s not about what’s under the tree but about who’s around it and that precious babe in the manger.

With love,
